Project Description: 

Construction of Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) in the capital city to improve public transportation facilities and reduce congestion in Jakarta. The first phase of this project consists of 2 phases: (1) Lebak Bulus – Bundaran HI and (2) Bundaran HI – Kampung Bandan.

Project Significance

MRT Jakarta is a public transportation that will help solve congestion problems, improve mobility of the capital city's residents, reduce carbon emissions and create new jobs in DKI Jakarta.

MRT NORTH – SOUTH ONE OF THE NATIONAL STRATEGIC PROJECTS RECEIVING SPECIAL ATTENTION FROM THE GOVERNMENT

MRT North South is one of 27 PSNs in the DKI Jakarta area, and is one of 9 PSNs worth 256 trillion rupiah that has been agreed to receive special attention from both the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs as the Chairperson of KPPIP, the Ministry of Transportation and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government based on the Ministerial Coordination Meeting held on January 19, 2023 and led directly by the Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Airlangga Hartarto.

At the Ministerial Coordination Meeting, Airlangga Hartarto said, "The government is committed to providing full support in accelerating the completion of PSNs in the DKI Jakarta area, totaling 27 projects, of which 9 projects will be given special attention considering the broad impact that can be provided if the project is completed." With an investment value of 16.3 trillion for Phase I and 22.5 trillion for Phase 2. MRT North South stretches 28.3 km, with Phase 1 Lebak Bulus - Bundaran HI spanning 16 km which has been operating since March 2019, while Phase 2 is divided into Phase 2A, namely Bundaran HI - Kota spanning 6.3 km which is targeted for completion in 2027 and Phase 2A, namely Kota - West Ancol spanning 6 km with a target completion in 2030. along the route, it is planned to be equipped with 10 Depots where each depot will be 0.6 - 1.0 km apart.

The MRT Development Project is funded by the Central Government and the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government supported by a loan from the Japanese Government through the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), which is received by the Central Government and then forwarded to the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government with the Directorate General of Railways Executing agency.

The MRT North-South is planned to support the 16 km MRT Jakarta Phase 1 that has been built and is currently operating. MRT Phase 1 includes 10 km of elevated track with seven stations, namely Lebak Bulus, Fatmawati, Cipete Raya, Haji Nawi, Blok A, Blok M, and Sisingamangaraja. While the remaining six kilometers of underground track, starting from Senayan, Istora, Bendungan Hilir, Setiabudi, DUkuh Atas, and Bundaran Hotel Indonesia.
